Rock Cladding - House Chancliff

Written by Kim Green
Another rock cladding job which turned out to be so lovely was on this Chancliff house. Small sections were clad just to enhance the appearance of the garage areas & corner walls at the entrance. Three shades of "Karoo" were used to simulate the natural colour variation within stone. The cladding comes in 8 different sizes which are modular which makes the laying of the cladding very user friendly. There is no right or wrong method when it comes to the layout of this particular cladding. Please call the showroom on 0732136574 for further assistance or pricing on this product.…

Rock Clad Resevoir

Written by Kim Green
An otherwise plain water reservoir got a lovely makeover with these cladding stones we made. We kept to the smaller of the cladding stones to accommodate the round surface of the reservoir. These stones have previously been used exclusively on driveways, but it just shows you how effective they are on a vertical surface too. We used a mixture of three "Karoo" shades to increase the mottled appearance of the cladding & to simulate the natural colour variation.

Concrete Windowsills

Written by Kim Green
In addition to the soap dish contract from Basil Read, we were asked to make windowsills for the Nurses’ Residence in Pretoria too. We made them in 2 different sizes, 600x195mm & 600x155mm, with the front long side a bullnose to allow for water run off. We have since started using them in domestic applications too. Please contact us to enquire about pricing, and remember we can make them in any of the standard 41 colours that we have! Please see the picture gallery below for photo's of the 2 different size windowsills.

Concrete Soapdishes

Written by Kim Green
We have completed a contract for Basil Read, making concrete soap dishes for a Nurses’ Residence in Pretoria. We had an order of over 500 to complete, which we did in 3 days. The need was to create a very durable soap dish, and the only ones available in the market place were of plastic type material. The concern here was that because the ablutions would be used by many people often that they would break & need replacing before long. We manufactured a positive, got the moulds pulled & were soon casting concrete soap dishes! We can make these…

Garden Path

Written by Kim Green
This week I decided to do a bit of DIY, and create a new garden path outside the showroom. This consisted of making 110x110 garden cobbles in Karoo 3 colour which created a border of sorts, and using 460x230mm pavers in Angola 9 colour which I had. To fill in the spaces between the pavers I used crushed stone which you can buy at most large hardware stores. I also planted a succulent which was just dying to be noticed into an old pot that was standing empty (see the pic below) and the idea is to eventually mosaic the…
